Key Transport Consultants (KTC) have been retained by developers Gallan Stoford to provide professional transport planning advice for a planning application for a major new Co-op distribution depot at Avonmouth, Bristol. The distribution depot will comprise of approximately 40,500 m2 of warehouse space and will create 1,000 jobs over the next two years. The site will replace two existing distribution depots located in Chelston, near Wellington and in Bridgwater. Once open, the Avonmouth distribution centre will supply over 400 shops across Bristol, North Somerset and South Wales.

KTC”s brief is to produce the Transport assessment to accompany the planning application and we are currently working with officers at the Highways Agency and Bristol City Council to determine its scope.

The Co-op hope to have the new depot open by spring to 2012 subject to a successful planning application.
