Acting for Mactaggart & Mickel KTC has been providing transport advice on a major land interest immediately East of Keynsham.

Work has included making representations to and appearing at the Examination in Public (EIP) in respect of the Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) Core Strategy which was adopted in July 2014 and in which land was successfully released from the Green Belt and allocated for approximately 250 homes, a primary school and safeguarded land for approximately 250 further homes.

KTC subsequently supported the planning application for the first phase of 250 homes and primary school attending presentations to the town council, attending public consultation events and preparing a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan.

Phase 1 is immediately south of the A4 which enjoys excellent bus services to Bristol and Bath but can experience congestion at peak times. Working with B&NES officers access proposals were developed to minimise disruption on the A4 and not prejudice future development phases.

A resolution to grant planning permission was given by the B&NES planning committee in December 2016.

KTC is continuing to advise on future development phases and has appeared at the EIP in respect of the B&NES Placemaking Plan and submitting representations to the West of England consultation on the Emerging Spatial Strategy in December 2016.
