Strode College provides educational facilities for central, south and northeast Somerset.  The College employs 300 full time equivalent staff and in 2012 the College enrolled 1,600 16-18 year olds, and worked with 2,000 adult students and 100 14-16 year olds.

KTC were retained by Strode College to provide advice on transport matters pertaining to the proposed Employment Skills Centre on campus at the College in Street, Somerset.  The proposed development was for an Employment Skills Centre comprises of one BREEAM Excellent standard building of 950m2 gross internal area over three floors.

KTC liaised with the Travel Plan Coordinator working at the College to develop an updated travel plan.

Due to the wide area from which staff and students travel to the College, it is a challenge to encourage sustainable travel. Consequently, the primary aims of this Travel Plan were to reduce reliance on the private car, particularly single occupancy car use, and increasing the use of sustainable modes of travel by staff and promoting a healthier lifestyle for staff and students attending the College.

Somerset County Council (SCC) has detailed travel planning guidance which sets how to produce Travel Plans in compliance with national and local policy. This guidance was used along with the dedicated website at http://www.movingsomersetforward.co.uk/ to set the measures and modal spilt targets for the Travel Plan. KTC are familiar with meeting the requirements and high standard set for Travel Plans in the SCC area.

The Travel Plan has been uploaded to SCCs online monitoring system (iOnTRAVEL) and has been accepted and approved by the Council.
