KTC were appointed by UKS Group to conduct a swept path analysis of a proposed new housing development on a site off Wedmore Road, in Cheddar.
The analysis was to examine that the proposed layout was in line with local planning standards with regards to the size of refuse vehicle that would be required to attend the site. Somerset County Council’s standard requires a 11.4m long, 2.25m wide, 4 axle vehicle to be assessed.
The analysis found that the internal layout was too tight for the vehicle to turn within. Areas where carriageway widening was required were outlined. Areas that the vehicle body would overhang were also noted so that these could be kept free of fencing or plants when the site is landscaped.
