KTC were appointed by David Wilson Homes to help to discharge the requirements of the planning consents for phases 1 and 2 of a new residential development in Wiveliscombe as set out in the respective S106 Agreements.
S106 Agreements are used to bring the development in line with the objectives of local and national sustainable development policies. Along with the implementation of cycle and motorcycle parking, the S106 Agreement required David Wilson Homes to appoint a Site Travel Plan Coordinator, implement a Residential Travel Voucher Scheme and develop a Smarter Travel Information Pack with Site Specific Travel Information.
KTC developed a Residential Travel Vouchers Scheme, which allowed householders to be reimbursed financially against fifty percent of their expenditure on equipment or tickets promoting smarter travel choices. Items deemed suitable for reimbursement included walking and cycling equipment, bus or rail season tickets or equipment to enable working from home.
A travel folder and leaflet were also designed which provide residents with information about local facilities (such as schools, shops and health services) and approximate walk times to these locations. The leaflet also provided information on cycling in the locality, along with a list of websites for further information. The travel folder (with internal site map), was designed to hold the travel leaflet as well as local bus timetables and the application form for the Residents Travel Voucher Scheme.
The Site Specific Travel Information Leaflet and Smarter Travel Information Pack have been submitted to Somerset County Council via iOnTRAVEL to meet the planning obligations.
