KTC ARE 5!

On the 25th April 2010 KTC celebrated its fifth anniversary and founders, Roger Key and David Tingay, celebrated with the rest of the staff with a customary visit to a local hostelry.

Five years ago Roger and David (and Roger”s dog Alf ) sat down in a spare room 1 at Roger’s house in Wrington, North Somerset and started work as Key Transport Consultants.  Over the five years the business has moved twice and now has its own premises overlooking Berkeley Square.  Sean McIntyre and Peter Mansell joined as directors of the company in 2005/06 and they are supported by employees Jonathan Rees, Matthew Mcfeat and Stephen Le Flohic in the delivery of traffic engineering, transport and travel planning advice for an ever expanding list of satisfied clients.

Speaking about the past five years and the future for the company Roger said:

It took a leap of faith to start KTC but I have no regrets, as the first five years have been really enjoyable.  With the support of our clients, large and small, and fellow professionals, we have built a small but excellent and versatile team.

When David and I started the business some big clients, amongst them the University of the West of England and, Cabot Circus owners, The Bristol Alliance, stuck with us, and we owe them a big thank you for their support, both for giving us a great starting workload and their continuing support.

We’ve always been very versatile and the diversity of our expertise and portfolio of projects has undoubtedly helped through the last 18 months.  During this period, we’ve been involved in ten schools PFI projects with major contractors, Skanska, BAM and Carillion and we’re delighted to have assisted Carillion with their successful bid to secure the PFI contract to build the new Southmead Acute Hospital.

The threat of government spending cuts mean the future remains uncertain, but we are seeing signs of recovery in the private sector, with recent instructions on housing , waste, commercial and retail projects. So we’re ready to take advantage of the economic recovery when it comes and looking forward to the next five years.

In compiling this article we have discovered that Key Transport Consultants shares its birthday with Oliver Cromwell and Renée Zellweger with whom KTC appears to have nothing else in common, as both are more than five years old and we assume that neither is familiar with Manual for Streets.
