Key Transport Consultants has worked on a variety of projects involving country estates or heritage projects.
Stonehenge: KTC is Travel Plan consultant to English Heritage undertaking annual travel surveys over the busy August Bank Holiday weekend to monitor use of different modes of travel to the Visitor Centre that opened in late 2013. The reports of surveys have been submitted to Wiltshire Council to formally discharge a planning obligation. KTC continue to monitor travel patterns through the annual travel surveys.
Belmont Estate, Wraxall, North Somerset: Belmont Estate was historically part of the neighboring Tyntsfield Estate that is now owned by the National Trust. Our Client bought the remainder of Belmont Estate and has also acquired adjoining land to re-establish the historic country estate and to create a sustainable future. The run-down buildings are being sensitively preserved and upgraded as befitting their listed nature, and apart from providing a family home, are being used for running courses in cookery, butchery, bush craft etc. Due to the very substandard nature of the main access, KTC recommended improvements to another existing access to the estate which required the setting back of existing hedgerows to provide appropriate visibility. Less than a year after the work was undertaken the hedgerow has been re-established.
Hatch Beauchamp, Somerset: Our Client owns a country estate near to Hatch Beauchamp which will be impacted by the proposals to upgrade the A358 between the M5 at Taunton and the A303 at Southfields. KTC has assisted the Client with responses to formal consultation events and a site visit to enable the key issues and concerns to be explained to Highways England and its design team. The preferred route announcement is expected in Spring 2019 when the potential impact of the road scheme on our Client’s land will be assessed.
Cranmore, Somerset: The owners of this Grade 1 Listed country manor are seeking a revised access drive to enhance the approach for their family and visitors to the stunning west façade. Working with conservation architects, arboriculturalist and landscape designers, KTC has advised on a location of the revised access from the public highway that sensitively conforms to current highway standards.
