Key Transport Consultants Ltd (KTC) is working on behalf of the applicant Deeley Freed and LaSalle to provide transport advice with respect to the redevelopment of The Galleries in Bristol city centre. The AHMM designed proposal involves redeveloping The Galleries Shopping Centre to create a residential and commercial mixed-use development. The development will include residential units, student accommodation, offices, a potential hotel, community facilities, retail, leisure and food and beverage units, as well as the removal of the multi-story car park.  A basement nightclub/cinema/live music/indoor sport or recreation/exhibition hall venue is also proposed. The existing basement and foundations are retained for reuse, providing a significant carbon saving.

A key aspect of the development will be to create new all-hours routes through the site, and pedestrian connectivity in the area will, therefore, be greatly enhanced by the proposals. Cycling infrastructure will be enhanced through the provision of a segregated two-way cycle facility on Fairfax Street and a public cycle hub.

Removing the existing 1,000-space multi-storey car park will significantly reduce car trips in the vicinity of the site, which will benefit pedestrian, cycle, and public transport movement. The only parking on site will be disabled parking with public parking north of Fairfax Street and the allocated use parking in the basement.

Planning permission was granted subject to a S106 agreement in January 2025.
