Categories: Leisure, residential
Client: Elev8 Ltd
Project Date: 2012 - 2016
Contact: Roger Key
Location: Aveley, Thurrock
Key Transport Consultants prepared Transport Assessments and Travel Plans to support the outline planning applications for both the relocation of Aveley Football Club to a new development including clubhouse buildings, football pitches and parking, and the proposed residential development of 114 dwellings on the existing football club site in Aveley, Essex.
The project team at KTC liaised with the client, project team and the local highway authority, Thurrock Council, and prepared the transport documents for submission.
The proposals were submitted as separate applications but were very much dependent on the provision of each other. Sale of the existing football club land would help to fund the relocation and improved facilities for the new football club grounds and facilities.
The Transport Assessments included review of the site location and local transport network, and an accessibility audit of the local area by non-car modes, review of transport policy and highway safety and assessment of the traffic impact including junction modelling.
The Travel Plans set out travel plan objectives and strategies for the relevant sites. Appropriate sustainable travel measures and modal split targets were set out for both the residential development and for the football club. Travel Plan measures for the football club included:
Both the planning application for the residential development and that for the relocation of the football club were permitted. The relocated Aveley Football Club development has been completed and the residential development on the old football club site, now known as Aveley Village, is currently under construction.
